Game Over is an art show depicting two of my favorite loves; glass art & video games. Since I can remember from my first introduction to Mario Bros. on Nintendo to buying my first playstation system, gaming has been an essential part of my art inspiration & mental health.
Video Games & glass art both require patience, hand eye coordination skills & represent freedom & escape. With this show I hope to bring childhood nostalgia, whimsy & a better understanding of how important video games can be especially in today’s world were it’s easy to get overwhelmed with fear & sadness. The gaming, & glass communities have both welcomed me with open arms in times of great turmoil & loss. Thus, through both these art forms I can freely express my ideas & emotions without fear of judgement, while showing inclusivity, beautiful visual aesthetics, & pure joy.
I hope with this show and future gaming inspired work to give the average non-gamer as well as gamers a look into two beautiful styles of art, video games & glass that in many ways go hand in hand. Now more than ever we need to spread good vibes and community through art as much as possible. Dream big, go farther, & good will always prevail over evil.
HiddenStash is a freelance artist and printmaker in NE Portland, Oregon. She creates weird creatures and more as ink drawings; and then through a combination of alchemy, trial and error, turns those drawings into silkscreens, From those silkscreens are pulled the images you see here, which she then uses watercolors and spray paint to transform each print into its own individual piece of art.
