october 2021 - notsik

Hello fellow creeps! My name is notsik and i’ve been creating and dabbling with art for as long as I can remember! My show is titled “we are the monsters” and I wanted to create a series of woodcuts with mirrors incorporated within them to shine light on how humans beings are the true monsters that we should be worrying about. Don’t get me wrong, I love my classic horror movie monsters, but there’s nothing scarier than a human and bad intentions, let alone reality itself.

I tend to draw the creepier things in life, but mainly anything with pointy ears and pointy teeth! I created the name notsik a few years back now, and essentially it’s my poor attempt at trying to humor my lack of confidence when it comes to my own art, life and endeavors. Nonetheless, living my life as notsik has ironically helped me learn to love even the things that I used to hate about my art! I moved to portland right before the pandemic hit in march of 2020, but it still has been quite the lovely playground for creating and collaborating with like-minded artists :) the pdx art community has been so warm and kind towards me, and I am honored to be creating along side with all of you!
