april 2022 - rxskulls

Hi! I’m RXSkulls. I’m a screen printing, sticker slapping, poster pasting, stencil spraying, skull obsessed street artist out of Oregon City. This art show is about friends and the summer months on their way. Screen printed, block carved, and painted woodcuts illustrate the things i’m looking forward to most this summer. I can’t wait to watch movies with my pals. I’m stoked to get up stickers and posters. I’m looking forward to getting some new tattoos. I’m always excited to hang out in the studio with my mates and screen print stickers.

A little about my process…. For over a decade the way in which I create my work follows a pretty strict routine. I begin by illustrating a new skull or skeleton digitally in vector format. I convert that file to outlines and transfer it in graphite onto a linoleum block. I carve the block by hand. This step is the most crucial as it gives my work an organic flavor and loss of control that digital art cannot. (?) I print the block one time, scan it, and vector trace it again line by line with a tablet. I then output to film and screen print as stickers or posters. The reason this show is special is because I’ve never used the block in itself to create artwork. It’s always been a stepping stone, never the end of the line. Before vectoring and screen printing, I chose to do a series of original block prints of all these new designs and even dip a toe into hand embellishments.

Besides the block prints, you can also nab larger screen printed posters of each of the designs. Also available are one of a kind hand painted and resin coated laser etched wood cutouts. Lastly you can pick out your favorite designs as weather proof vinyl stickers.

Thank you for checking out my new work!
